Embarking on an arduous 8-mile hike through challenging and treacherous terrain, we were rewarded with the breathtaking spectacle of the Fagradalsfjall volcano in eruption. The vivid recollection of the warmth, distinct smells, and resonant sounds of the eruption remains etched in my memory — it truly was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
